Forms of Domestic Violence

EMOTIONAL VIOLENCE:
The man works his will by provoking senses of fear, shame and guilt. He can force the woman to do things, which are in conflict with her inner convictions and desires such as threats, causing confusion and suffering. For instance he threatens the woman that he will leave her, turn her out of the house, take her children away, that he will kill himself, etc.

He brings the woman into a degrading position, he makes her dependent and weak as he abuses her and humiliates her in the presence of her families and friends.

He treats the woman badly as if she is a person from the lower ranks, he makes all decisions on his own. He behaves like the master of the house, he might break some of her belongings, torment pets, make threats with a gun in his hand.

He is able to make the woman feel guilty because of her children, to threaten that he will take them away from her if she does not observe his conditions.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:
Pushing, jostling or plucking, burnings, causing bruises, fractures.
Slapping in the face, kicking.
Striking with an object or a knife.
It aims at reducing to obedience and keeping the victim in fear.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE:
Forcing the victim to have sex at a time or in a way, she does not wish for.

Brute throwing down on the ground and causing pain during the time of the sexual act. He gets angry when she holds out against him and accuses her until she gives in.

ECONOMIC VIOLENCE:
The man prevents the woman from working, forces her to beg for money, he grants her a limited sum of money which he then he demands a detailed account for.

The woman is deprived of a free access to the money and information about the finances.
