It works 24 hours a day with no rest day. It is served by social workers and psychologists.

THE CRISIS TELEPHONE LINE PROVIDES:

• Access to the rest of the Crisis Unit services;

• Emotional support, understanding and non-accusatory attitude;

• Care and attention towards the victims’ individual needs;

• Information about rights, ways of protection, opportunities and alternatives for the victims of violence;

• Information about the resources and services rendered by the institutions and the non-governmental organizations in the City and Region of Plovdiv;

• Information about the resources of organizations from the country rendering services for women and children who have suffered violence;

• Information about the legitimate firms arranging the problems on working abroad, about the Bulgarian embassies and the services rendered by organizations working with victims of trafficking abroad;

• Opportunity for the clients to get emotional support and information without identifying themselves.

For many women dialling the number of the Crisis Telephone Line is an important step by which they for the first time break the silence regarding the violence in their families. They need to tell what is happening to them without being blamed and to come to know about the opportunities they have. A big part of the women who call the number of the Crisis Telephone Line feel better protected if they remain anonymous.

Many women need to be encouraged so that they can speak about their feelings and to be given countenance in order to search for professional help for overcoming the consequences of violence. A part of those dialling the number of the Crisis Telephone Line are young ladies or their relatives or friends who look for information about the secure ways of travelling abroad.
